Since it’s creation in 1937, Toyota has become one of the largest companies on the planet and the world’s largest automotive manufacturer. But there are many things about Toyota that are not commonly known. Here are a few random facts you may not have known about Toyota.
It Was Originally Spelled “Toyoda”
When Kiichiro Toyoda, the company’s founder, began production of automobiles in 1936, he used his family’s name as the name of his new vehicles. It wasn’t until a year later in 1937 that the name was officially changed to Toyota Motor Company.
Toyota Took Inspiration From American Cars
Toyoda arrived in the U.S. in 1929 to investigate how the Americans produced their automobiles. He was so inspired by Dodge and Chevrolet that he brought these ideas back to Japan and applied what he learned to his Toyota vehicles.
