New Driving ResolutionsSep 30th, 2019
Going into the New Year, it’s the perfect time for resolutions! While there are the traditional resolutions like losing weight or not gossiping, there are some other things that you should consider changing in the new year. Namely, your driving habits. While we’re all guilty of the occasional bad driving habit, there are some habits that you should probably stop doing. Whether it’s a safety issue or just things that could save you money, here are some New Years Driving Resolutions to consider for 2018.
Get Off The Phone
Not only are there many laws in effect regarding distracted driving, but it’s also just not safe. When you’re driving, you should be focused on the road and your driving. Not whoever is on the other side of the phone. That person can wait until you get to your destination before receiving a response. Besides with all the new technology out there with hands-free, there’s no excuse for being on the phone.
Wear A Seatbelt
Not only are there many laws in effect regarding seat belts, but it’s also just not safe (This sounds familiar…). It’s a bad habit that a lot of people have to not wear seat belts and I really don’t see why. It’s not like they’re THAT uncomfortable, and they’ll keep you safe. Even with all the new advances in safety technology, it all starts with the seat belt.
Keep The Tank Full
The last thing you want is to be stuck at the side of the road with an empty tank of gas. We all have the bad habit of “waiting until tomorrow, it’ll be cheaper” but it’s a habit we all need to stop. Not only does it risk running out, but a lower fuel level will also create condensation in your tank which could affect your fuel or even freeze in the winter.
Keep It Clean
It’s easier to maintain than to start over. This is true with most things in life, including weight loss and cleaning. When salt and garbage starts building up in your car, it can take a long time to clear it all out so you might as well just keep it clean, so you don’t lose a Saturday cleaning out your car.
You know when you drive down the road, and you see a big red octagon-shaped sign that says STOP in big letters? I know they’re easy to miss, and their purpose is kind of a mystery, so I’m going to help you out with what the sign means. IT MEANS STOP. Apply the brakes until you come to a complete stop. When you have stopped, and the way is clear, then you have my permission to drive. So many people just coast through Stop signs which can be very dangerous.
Be More Patient
Road rage is a dangerous thing. It causes accidents, high blood pressure, and excessive swearing. The best thing to do in this case is put on some easy listening music and take a deep breath. Anger can affect the way we drive making us more aggressive causing mistakes to happen. Just take a deep breath and move on.
I like the Fast & Furious movies as much as the next guy, but that doesn’t mean I want to replicate them in the real world. And let’s face it, you aren’t driving a supercharged RX-7 with nitrous. Life isn’t a race, and you shouldn’t drive like it’s one. It’s dangerous and completely unnecessary.
No one likes servicing their vehicles because it costs you time and money. But an oil change is cheaper than a new engine. So maybe you should just bite the bullet and take care of your car now before you run into any real issues. Weins Pre-Owned’s service department is full of qualified technicians who are ready to help you out with all of your service needs.
New Years is a time for new beginnings and creating new habits (or getting rid of old ones). We hope that your 2018 is a healthy and prosperous one and we hope to see you again soon.
